    Meet the Founder

Foresite was founded by Dave, a creative with a passion for design, coding, conservation, and community. As a crafter and business owner, Dave understands the challenges of running a small business and brings that insight to every project.

    Where it all started

Dave began his design and development journey in 1999 by building a website for a new family business. As his skills grew, he continually refined the site and soon began picking up paid projects through Yahoo Business Chatrooms. In 2000, Dave returned to college to study HND Multimedia Design. Excelling in the web design module, his knowledge of web development soon surpassed the course content, leading to an invitation to teach an extra-curricular evening class in web development.

In the second year of the HND, Dave took on more paid work while completing his studies remotely. During this time, he secured freelance projects with Connexions Wiltshire, signed on with local agencies, and landed contracts with Vodafone and the MOD. After three years freelancing in the Bath area, Dave joined Future Plc as a front-end developer, spending four years honing his skills. Around this time, he discovered a passion for photography, shooting weddings and selling landscape prints.

    A Journey of Growth

In 2010, Dave left Future Plc to pursue freelance work full-time, collaborating with Bristol’s thriving tech scene. His first contract was with Aardman Digital (later followed by three additional projects), then with 360, Nomensa, ISM Games (the team behind Premier League's Fantasy Football), Fez Consulting, and CXPartners.

In 2014, Dave took a sabbatical from development, exploring a variety of hands-on roles—from forestry and paving to property maintenance and construction. This period also sparked a passion for crafting with reclaimed materials, blending creativity with sustainability.

    Returning to Development

In 2018, Dave returned to the ever-evolving world of development, diving into new technologies to adapt to the changed landscape. By 2019, he had secured contracts with Appnovation and began freelancing for a local agency. During the lockdown in 2020, Dave discovered blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies, which led to 3.5 years of freelance work as a developer and community manager.

In 2022, Dave founded Foresite, combining decades of experience in development and design with his love of crafting, community, and conservation.
